Being a Lighthouse (not a lifeboat).
The world is really loud right now.
So how do you control the uncontrollable?
Well, you don’t.
Instead, you anchor yourself.
When the world is spiralling in chaos, you have two choices:
- Get swept up in the storm, tossed around by fear and uncertainty.
- Ground yourself, breathe deeply, and become a lighthouse—a steady beacon in turbulent waters.
The Power of Inner Work: Why It’s More Important Than Ever.
I can already hear the resistance:
“But I can’t just ignore what’s happening! People need help. I want to be there for them. I want to change the world.”
And that’s exactly why I’m saying this.
Because we change the world one light at a time.
Right now, nervous systems are highly triggered. The collective energy feels frantic—like trying to grasp sand as it slips through your fingers.
In moments like these, my instinct is to say…:
STOP.
Pause. Breathe. Go within.
Let in the Source that guides you.
Let in peace.
Let in love.
Let in your whole self.
Because only then do you become a container for the change you want to see.
Why the World Pulls You into Chaos (and How to Step Back)
When people around you are operating from a place of fear, your human instinct is to join them. We are social beings, wired for community. Sometimes, even chaos creates a sense of belonging.
But the inner work requires a different path.
If you stay in the crowd, you will resonate with the crowd.
If the crowd is vibrating at fear, you’ll absorb that frequency too.
Instead, the real shift happens when you step away and choose a different resonance; one of love, clarity, and purpose.
It’s not easy. But once you make that decision, something incredible happens.
You discover an entirely different community of people who are also seeking connection; not through fear, but through love.
How to Do the Inner Work (Even in a Noisy World)
So how do you start?
First, make the decision.
I keep thinking about the movie Wicked and my new favorite tagline:
“What’s Your Elphaba Moment?”
The reason we love Elphaba is also the reason we fear becoming her.
She steps away from expectations.
She stops caring what others think.
She follows her inner truth, even when no one else can follow.
But in a world this loud, it’s hard to separate the noise outside from the wisdom within.
That’s why the first step is finding stillness.
Step 1: Regulate Your Nervous System
You can’t hear your heart when your survival brain is in overdrive.
Before anything else, take a deep breath.
- Inhale for 5 seconds
- Exhale for 5 seconds
- Repeat 6 times
This simple breathwork helps calm the vagus nerve, shifting you out of fight-or-flight mode and into a place of inner safety.
Step 2: Ground Yourself
- Imagine a light flowing from the universe above, moving through your entire body, and anchoring you into the earth.
- Breathe it in. Let it fill your being.
The love and light of the universe is always flowing toward you.
Step 3: Connect with Your Heart
- Place your hands over your heart.
- Ask: “How are you feeling?”
- Simply listen.
Interesting, isn’t it? The word “hear” is literally within the word “heart”. A little reminder that your soul is always speaking—it just takes quieting the noise to listen.
Step 4: Radiate Love into the World
Once you’re anchored, shift your focus outward:
- Who can you send love to?
- Who can you surround in light?
- What inspired action is calling to you?
- Or is it simply a moment to hold stillness and radiate love?
Remember, your role is to be a lighthouse.
If you act like a lifeboat, constantly trying to save everyone, you’ll sink under the weight.
But if you anchor yourself, your light will guide others safely to shore.
This can be as simple as…
✔ Smiling at a stranger.
✔ Being kind to a cashier.
✔ Choosing not to complain.
✔ Turning off the news when it drains your energy.
You don’t need to fix the whole world—you just need to be the light.
